According to insiders, Intel will soon introduce the NUC 12 Extreme Dragon Canyon mini PC based on 12th generation processors. Even before the official announcement, a slide from a closed presentation got into the network, revealing the design and all the technical characteristics of the future novelty. Despite its compact dimensions, a miniature desktop will allow the owner to use a “charged” discrete graphics card.

The novelty will be equipped with an LGA1700 socket motherboard and support for desktop processors with TDP up to 65W. Modifications based on the Intel Core i9-12900 (clock speed up to 5.1 GHz and Core i7-12700 (up to 4.9 GHz) will go on sale first. The mini-PC will support up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM (SO-DIMM modules) and will get three M.2 slots for drives and other peripherals.

The list of characteristics of the device is complemented by a 10-gigabit Ethernet port, two Thunderbolt 4 connectors, one HDMI 2.0b, six USB ports and an integrated Intel AX211 module with support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Optionally, discrete graphics can also be installed in a compact system unit – a PCI-Express 5.0 connector with 16 lines is provided for this. The length of the video card must not exceed 12 inches (30.48 cm), and the thickness is limited to two expansion slots.

The cost of the basic modification of the Intel NUC 12 Extreme, according to the source, will be € 1181 (excluding the discrete GPU), and the more advanced will cost buyers € 1401.
