If you’re looking for a smartwatch that doesn’t have to be charged frequently, then Garmin’s latest watch might be the best one for you. In fact, the company has launched the Garmin Descent G1 as its latest wearable, which has been specially designed for divers. The new Descent G1 comes in two variants – a solar powered model and a non-solar variant. These are available in four different color options and offer a variety of diving modes for the users. In addition to diving, the watch can also track a range of activities and monitor your health, including breathing and fitness age, throughout the day. The smartwatch offers up to 25 hours of battery life on a single charge while in dive mode.
– the Garmin Descent G1 sports a power sapphire lens. Its bezel and case are made of fibre-reinforced polymer. The monochrome, transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) display features a two-window design, with a display resolution of 176×176 pixels. The watch weighs 61 grams, measures 45.5 mm in size, and can work in water up to 100 meters deep.
– The watch has support for multiple dive modes, ranging from technical to free dive like single-gas mode, gauge mode, apnea mode, nitrox mode, etc. The smartwatch can store up to 200 dives. Users have the option to upload, share and review dives through the Garmin Dive app. The device is GPS-enabled to help divers find their way.
– The watch also helps users to track their movements over water. The wearable comes with over 30 inbuilt sports apps and training features. The smartwatch has a step counter, calories burned and also monitors the move IQ of the users. There are some useful facilities specific to certain activities, including golfing, swimming and boating.
The smartwatch comes with a host of health-tracking features such as Respiration Rate Monitor, Heart Rate Monitor, Blaze-Oxygen Saturation Level (SpO2), Fitness Age Determination, Hydration Reminder and Sleep Cycle Tracker.
Battery life of up to 4 months on full charge The
new Garmin Descent G1 delivers up to 25 hours of battery life on a single charge in dive mode. The company says that the smartwatch can last up to 21 days when it is not in dive mode. If the watch is in battery saver mode, it can last up to 48 days. The Solar variant, on the other hand, can last up to four months on a single charge.
This is the price of the new Garmin Descent G1 – The price of
the new Garmin Descent G1 smartwatch in the US is $549.99 (approximately Rs 41,630). At the same time, the price of Garmin Descent G1 Solar variant is $649.99 (about Rs 49,220). Both the solar and non-solar variants come in four colors – Black, Hurricane Blue, Powder Gray and Slate Grey. The company has not yet made any announcement regarding availability in India.
