Smartphone shipments in India increased by 25 percent, Xiaomi ranked first

Smartphone shipments in the country have increased by about 25 percent in the fourth quarter of last year. China’s Xiaomi has reached the first position in this market with 18 percent share. Xiaomi has got the advantage of introducing smartphones in the low price category in the 5G segment with Redmi 13C. Vivo, another Chinese smartphone maker, has retained the second position.

South Korean consumer electronics company Samsung After being at the first rank in this market for four consecutive quarters, it has fallen to the third position. Chinese smartphone companies Realme and Oppo are ranked fourth and fifth respectively. Market research firm Counterpoint reports that 5G smartphones priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000 accounted for 24 percent of total smartphone shipments. There has been a growth of 51 percent in the premium smartphone segment. American Devices Company apple has secured first position in this segment with 17 percent share. The company has benefited from launching the iPhone 15 series.

Xiaomi’s market share has been 18 percent. Vivo has maintained the second position in this market for the fourth consecutive quarter. The company’s market share is about 17 percent. Samsung has suffered a setback and is in third place with 16.8 percent market share. Realme secured the fourth position with 11 percent market share. This report states that it has been the fastest growing smartphone company in the fourth quarter with a growth of 69 percent on a year-on-year basis. Oppo stood at fifth position with about 10 percent share.

In the last year, Samsung has been at the first position with 18 percent market share. The major reason for this is the strong performance of the company in the first three quarters of last year. Last year, the company launched foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 along with the Galaxy S23 series. Vivo had secured second position with 17 percent market share. After this, Chinese smartphone companies are Xiaomi (16.5 percent), Realme (12 percent) and Oppo (10.5 percent).
