According to Autocar India, students from the local VW Group technical academy have created the first ever student project outside the Czech Republic in the history of this program.
More specifically, they created a unique convertible based on the Skoda Rapid sedan. This project allowed students to gain practical experience in the automotive industry, which will be useful to them in the future.
Piyush Arora, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, said: “This initiative reflects our commitment to developing talent and driving innovation in the Indian automotive industry. Such initiatives also create an opportunity to realize futuristic ideas by creating prototypes with out-of-the-box thinking without the fear of failure.”
Of the unusual solutions, it is worth highlighting the Skoda badge on the hood, which is removed at the touch of a button. The Rapid convertible has LED headlights, yellow accents on the front bumper, doors and brake calipers. The standard exhaust has been replaced with a sportier one.
Inside, one of the main problems was the attachment of seat belts due to the lack of B-pillars, so they are attached to the seats. The interior received sporty red upholstery, as well as a touch-screen infotainment unit.
Details about the characteristics of the engine and gearbox have not yet been specified, so, presumably, there are no changes under the hood compared to the standard Skoda Rapid.
