Company Skoda has completed the design of its new crossover, which will go on sale next year, writes Autocar.
This model will be the most affordable crossover in the brand’s line-up, and the low price is planned to be achieved with the help of high percentage of localization and tax benefits. The main market for the new crossover will be India, while Skoda plans to reach the level of localization up to 90%, which contributes to reducing the cost of production.
The targeting at the Indian market is also visible taking into account the tax relaxations related to car sizes. The length of the new crossover should not exceed four meters, which meets the requirements for obtaining tax benefits. It is appreciated that Skoda creates a model, which is compatible with cars, such as Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue.
In addition, future export modules are planned to Mexico, Africa and some markets in South-East Asia, including Vietnam.
The novelty will be equipped with turbocharged motors with a volume of 1,0 and 1,5 liters, however, the 150-horsepower version is not worth waiting for, since you will not be able to get tax benefits on it.
Start production is expected in January 2025.
