At the same time, the company’s sales have increased by 10 percent compared to the month of August of the last year i.e. 2021. In August 2021, Skoda sold 3829 vehicles in India. If we look at the sales of this whole year (so far), Skoda has sold 37,568 vehicles, which is the highest figure in the last 10 years.
Skoda has sold the highest number of cars in India this year after 2012. In the year 2012, the company sold 34,678 vehicles. Skoda CEO Klaus Gelmer has said that India has a major contribution in meeting the company’s global target. The company is trying to more than double the sales this year as compared to 2021.
Other car sales companies
The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) reported a 26.37 percent increase in total sales at 1,65,173 units last month. At the same time, the total sales of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) increased by five percent to 62,210 units last month. Apart from these, Tata Motors’ total sales in August increased by 36 per cent to 78,843 units and Mahindra & Mahindra’s (M&M) passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market increased by 87 per cent to 29,852 units last month.
Kia India’s wholesale sales increased by 33 per cent to 22,322 units last month. It had supplied 16,759 units to the dealers in August, 2021. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM)’s overall wholesale sales grew by 17 per cent to 14,959 units in August. Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) sales in the domestic market declined by 30 percent to 7,769 units in August.
