These security guards are employees of India’s largest private security provider firm Security and Intelligence Services (India) Limited (SIS), which was started by Ravindra Kishore Sinha. He started this company with two rooms, but today it has become an empire worth more than Rs 1200 crore.
RK Sinha had laid the foundation of this company in Patna in 1974 and today his company is providing services in many countries including Australia besides India. According to Forbes, RK Sinha’s current net worth is Rs 8300 crore ($1 billion). SIS companies are recognized as leaders in the manpower security business in the Asia Pacific sector, with over 36,000 permanent employees and 3,000 corporate customers.
Company gets more revenue from Australia
RK Sinha’s SIS gets maximum revenue from Australia. SIS has started a joint venture with Spain’s Prosegur to provide cash logistics services. RK Sinha is not only a successful businessman, but he is also a politician. Sinha is one of the founding members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has also been a Rajya Sabha MP.
Worked as a journalist
RK Sinha, born in a middle class family of Patna, obtained a degree in Political Science in 1971. In order to improve the financial condition of the family, he worked as a reporter and trainee in a publication. During that time India-Pakistan war started. During this time he became friends with the soldiers of Bihar Regiment. After the war ended, he joined the JP movement in 1973. Due to which he was fired from the job.
Started security company again
After losing his job, the only salary he had to survive financially for two months was Rs 250, which was given by the publishing company. They were not able to think what to do next. During that time he met a friend of his who had a construction business. He told that he is looking for ex-servicemen for the security of the project site. When Sinha told about his friendship with the soldiers of Bihar Regiment during the war, the friend advised him to form a security company.
Then RK Sinha contacted the ex-servicemen. Many of them were looking for work after retirement. In February 1974, SIS was established in a two-room garage in Patna. He met his contacts in Bihar Regiment and took the details of retired personnel and convinced them to work. Within a year of the establishment of SIS, the number of employees of the company increased to 250-300 and the turnover crossed Rs 1 lakh.
Company’s revenue is more than Rs 12000 crore
Last year RK Sinha had told that more than 284000 employees are working in his company. The company’s revenue of SIS Group in the financial year 2024 (SIS Revenue in FY24) has reached Rs 12261 crore and Ebitda has become Rs 585 crore.
