Shubhanshu Shukla and Ax-4 mission will open the way to build the next international space station

Shubhanshu Shukla and Ax-4 mission will launch on 10 June 2025. 60 experiments (from 31 countries) will be conducted on ISS in 14 days. This will lay the foundation for the next space station (in 2027). India-NASA will prepare for Gaganyaan in collaboration. ISS will be dropped into the sea in 2030. Work on the next space station will begin before that.

India’s Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla and his three companions will depart for the International Space Station (ISS) on 10 June 2025 on SpaceX Dragon. This mission is part of Ax-4, which is not only for scientific experiments. But it will also open the way to build the next space station.

History and future of ISS

ISS is the world’s most expensive government project, on which more than 100 billion dollars were spent. It was built in 13 years. Since the year 2000, some astronaut or the other has been living here continuously. But only 6 people live in it at a time. The ISS orbits the Earth at an altitude of 400-450 kilometers. Its size is bigger than a football field. But in 2030 it will be dropped into the sea because it is getting old.
