While driving the Lamborghini Urus Performante in Bangalore, we got a chance to speak to Sharad Agarwal, Head, Lamborghini India. In the meantime, he revealed a few more details about the Italian firm’s performance in the Indian market and gave us a better understanding of what Lamborghini customers demand in India.
Aggarwal revealed that the Urus accounts for around 60 per cent of Lamborghini’s sales in India. The super SUV is followed by the V12 engined Huracan lineup on the sales chart, which will soon be introduced in its new avatar. Agarwal also revealed that the new Urus Performante accounts for the majority of SUV sales in India.
The current waiting period is 18 months for the lightweight, performance-oriented version of the Urus, which was launched late last year. Agarwal also revealed that both the Urus S and the Performante models will be discontinued next year as part of Lamborghini’s electrification plan. It will be replaced by a hybrid model of the Urus.
However, the Urus will not be the only hybrid Lamborghini that will come to India. The company is also preparing to replace the Aventador soon. The firm recently revealed the 1,001 bhp V12 hybrid setup that will be powering it. The Huracan will also be a hybrid that will come to India, replacing the current V10 model.
When asked to Agarwal how are Lamborghini’s supercar/super SUV sales going in India? Agarwal replied that Lamborghini has differentiated itself from other supercar brands in India by being more involved in the after sales setup.
The company has been organizing events like Dirt Track Drives for the customers of Urus Performante which helps the customers to experience the vehicles to the fullest.
