- El Salvador… The first armed forces were created in 1824. The army consists of ground forces, air force, naval forces. It is completed on a conscription basis. The ground forces contain about 20 infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, and armored vehicles. In artillery – about 500 units of old American anti-tank recoilless guns, as well as M101. Air defense is represented here only by anti-aircraft guns. The El Salvadorian Air Force maintains about 40 aircraft, 17 of which are American A-37 attack aircraft. As for helicopters, the country has no more than 30 of them. The naval forces are represented by about 15 boats. There is also a battalion of naval special forces that has been trained in the United States. Now, in technical terms, it is a lagging country: military equipment has not been modernized here for a long time.
