Semiconductor Problem in India: India, along with almost the entire world, has been facing a shortage of semiconductors for some time now. Which is affecting the entire IT sector including the auto industry. But now there is hope of recovering from it soon. Recently, IT and Communication Minister in the Government of India, Ashwini Vaishnav has said that the commencement of the first semiconductor fabrication unit in the country can be announced soon. What is semiconductor? In which things is it used? And what would be the benefit of making it in the country? We are going to give further information about this.
What is a semiconductor?
The chip used in vehicles is also called semiconductor. These days they are used in all types of vehicles. Because of which only the latest features work. It is a semiconductor that manages the emissions from vehicles with ICE engines. So at the same time it also works to control the power consumed by the battery in the electric car.
Why are semiconductors used in cars?
Now car manufacturers are engaged in providing more than one latest technology in their cars, due to which the need for semiconductor is increasing even more. Semiconductors are used in vehicles ranging from radio touchscreen infotainment systems to air conditioners as well as safety equipment such as airbags, seatbelt tensioners, ABS and stabilization systems, etc.
What will be the effect on the car waiting period due to its completion?
Not only in India, the semiconductor shortage has affected almost the whole world. Because without this chip it is now impossible for vehicles to run. That’s why vehicle manufacturing companies are not able to produce with their full capacity due to shortage in the supply of semiconductors. Due to which the customers buying the car are facing long waiting period from the companies.
