Semiconductor shortage will affect Maruti’s production, waiting period of vehicles may increase

Maruti Suzuki’s production may be impacted due to a global shortage of semiconductors. This can result in a long waiting list for many Maruti vehicles. According to Maruti’s CFO, Ajay Seth, the shortage of semiconductors could affect the production of vehicles.

The company is working on maximizing production with available electronic components

Maruti is working on maximizing production with the available supply of electronic components to deal with the shortage of electronic components.

Despite some improvement in the supply situation in Q3 (ending Dec 31, 2022), Maruti is expected to sell around 46,000 units in the October-December period due to semiconductor shortages.

Maruti vehicles are popular in India due to their affordable prices and recent launches of advanced vehicles have received bumper bookings. However, customers may have to wait for delivery due to rising demand and a shortage of electronic components such as semiconductors. This may result in lower production this month compared to last month.

what is a Semiconductor?

A semiconductor is a material with electrical conductivity between that of a conductor and an insulator, typically silicon or germanium, used in the manufacturing of electronic devices such as transistors, diodes, and integrated circuits.
