Scientists have learned to introduce quantum systems into the “state of Schrödinger’s cat”



Naked Science writes briefly about the work. One of the main problems with quantum systems is that any interaction with the environment changes their state slightly. Quantum systems are even difficult to measure. Feedback control systems are used to keep them in the desired state. They return the system to the required state after the changes.

Scientists have found that a type of machine learning – reinforcement learning – can cope with this task. With this method, the system under test learns by interacting with a certain environment. Using this method, scientists managed to return the system to an almost pure “Schrödinger’s cat state”, in which the system is simultaneously in two states.
