Scientists have created artificial muscles for microrobots

Artificial muscles were created from layers of elastomer sandwiched between two very thin electrodes and rolled into a cylinder. A small motor is energized to drive the mechanism and cause the blades to rotate.

A similar engine, which specialists have equipped microbots, allows miniature machines to fly longer and be more controllable in the air.

This method of producing artificial muscles allows the flying robot to carry 80 percent more payload, all thanks to a soft drive that distributes electrical energy to the blades, increasing the efficiency of each mechanism.
