Scientists have created a device that rescues an overdose of substances



The device used is similar to an insulin pump. It has the potential to reduce the number of opioid overdose deaths.

The device is attached to the abdomen. It consists of a patch with an accelerometer and a small case with a processor, battery and injector. If the device detects that the abdomen rises and falls differently from normal breathing, a needle is inserted into the person’s skin and an antidote is injected.
