Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Stanislav Kuznetsov, in an interview with RIA Novosti, said that the bank prevented a large-scale attack on the cards of Russians by a Ukrainian company that develops applications.
Almost immediately after the start of the special operation, we stopped the massive debiting of funds from the cards of our clients. Moreover, the number of write-off attempts reached tens of thousands per minute. Our investigation showed that these write-offs were initiated by one Ukrainian company – a mobile application developer.

The company, which has about 50 different applications, collected and stored customer bank card data, violating the requirements of international payment systems: “Moreover, everything was completely legal, because they sold legal services in applications: subscription to meal plans, fitness programs, and so on. In one day, the company initiated mass write-offs across the entire accumulated database. We have rejected several hundred thousand write-off attempts.”
He added that attackers are three times more likely to find victims on social media and are increasingly targeting young people aged 18-22.
Earlier, large banks confirmed that the number of attacks has recently increased due to the imposition of sanctions.
