The company had started the delivery of Chetak in 20 cities by the financial year 2022 and now plans have been prepared to take it to 75 cities by the end of the financial year 2023.
The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter can be booked on the official website of Bajaj Auto by paying a token amount of Rs 2,000. In India, Bajaj Chetak competes with electric scooters like TVS iQube and Ola S1 Pro.
Preparations begin to bring the new model
Let us tell you that Bajaj Auto is preparing to bring a new model of Chetak soon. The new Chetak will come with a wider range and more charging options than the current model. The Bajaj Chetak is powered by a 3.8kW electric motor with a 3kWh IP67 rating lithium-ion battery that is non-removable.
95 km range
The scooter has two riding modes – Eco and Sport. This scooter gives a range of 95 kms in Eco mode, while 85 kms in Sport mode. Its top speed is 60 km/h. It takes 5 hours for this scooter to be fully charged from the 5 amp power socket.
Iconic retro design has been given to Bajaj Chetak. It gets LED derailleurs and headlamps, digital instrument console, USB port, alloy wheels and disc brakes. The company has also given a live tracking feature in it, with the help of which the scooter can also be tracked through the smartphone application. It also has a reverse mode.
This feature proves useful when the scooter is parked in a crowded place and finding it difficult to locate it. The company is also guaranteeing better service on Chetak’s battery and scooter. The regular service of Chetak is done at 15,000 kms, which is a lot in comparison to the petrol powered scooters.
The Chetak scooter is being manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s Pune plant. Bajaj also took out the ‘Chetak Electric Yatra’ campaign to prove the capability and reliability of the Chetak scooter. In this campaign, a journey of 3,500 km was covered by Chetak scooter passing through 10 cities.
To strengthen its presence in the EV segment, Bajaj is currently building a new EV plant in Pune. This is the same plant where the company used to manufacture petrol powered Chetak scooter earlier. The new Bajaj EV plant is being built with an investment of Rs 300 crore (approximately USD 40 million). At full capacity, this plant will be able to manufacture 5 lakh electric vehicles per year.
