Russian scientists will receive 5 billion rubles for research in the field of thermonuclear fusion from the government

As part of the implementation of the comprehensive program ” Development of science, technology and scientific research in the field of the use of atomic energy in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024 “, the Russian government will allocate 5 billion rubles in 2022. The corresponding order was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on March 5.

“To allocate in 2022 for the implementation of activities of the comprehensive program “Development of equipment, technologies and scientific research in the field of the use of atomic energy in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024” in order to conduct research and development work to develop technologies for controlled thermonuclear fusion and of innovative plasma technologies, budgetary allocations in the amount of 5 billion rubles from the reserve fund of the Government of the Russian Federation , ”the prime minister’s order says.

According to published data, the allocated funds will be distributed as follows: the state corporation Rosatom will receive 1 billion 60 million 207 thousand rubles, the Ministry of Education and Science – 2 billion 919 million 730 thousand rubles, the National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute” – 1 billion 20 million rubles . The organizations that received funding must report on the results of the work by December 31, 2022, and by February 1, 2023, reports on the effectiveness of the use of the allocated budget funds must be submitted to the government.

“I think you have a lot of ideas. We just noted today that controlled thermonuclear fusion can become an inexhaustible source of energy, clean, reliable energy. This is the dream of scientists all over the world ,” says Mikhail Mishustin.
