Russian Kalashnikov machine gun will be taught to shoot NATO army cartridges

According to the chief designer of the enterprise, Sergei Urzhumtsev, right now the company’s engineers are working hard to create new modifications of the RPL-20 machine gun. They will be focused on “work” with cartridges 7.62 by 39 mm and 5.56 by 45 mm.

The most interesting thing about all this is that the latest size cartridges are used in NATO countries. Thus, domestic weapons will be able to shoot foreign ammunition.

This, according to Urzhumtsev, can make it so that the Kalashnikov will be able to enter the international market for light machine guns.

Earlier, information appeared on the network about the completion of state tests of the Chukavin sniper rifle (SHF). The novelty is expected to replace the legendary Dragunov rifle (SVD).
