The Ministry of Digital Science has held a meeting with Russian software developers and foreign electronics manufacturers, Kommersant writes. The agency wants PCs that are shipped to Russia without operating systems to be preinstalled with Russian operating systems. This should “stimulate domestic software developers.”
In total, they want to install domestic systems on 100 thousand laptops and computers. The experiment is planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2022. If everything goes well, then we intend to reach 1 million OS installations per year.
We are talking about Astra Linux and ALT Linux operating systems.
