Russia is no longer a member of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization

Russia was not re-elected to the governing Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This was reported by Reuters today. According to him, Russia did not receive enough votes to remain on the Council.

ICAO published a list of countries included in the Council on the basis of voting results on its Twitter page. Australia, Brazil, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, China, USA, France and Japan were elected to the Council in the first round of voting.

Earlier, Canadian Transport Minister Omar Algabra told Reuters that Canada would vote against Russia in elections to the ICAO Council. In total, the Council includes 36 ICAO member states.
