As noted, photodetectors, or photonic integrated circuits (PICs), are necessary to convert an optical signal into an electrical one. In Russia, for the first time, completely domestic equipment for such tasks was created.
“The main goal of the project is the development of a completely domestic technology for the production of FIS active components. Within the framework of the project, two types of photodetector modules based on the InP platform are being developed. A preliminary design of one of the types of photodetectors intended for environmental monitoring systems has now been completed. This year, the preliminary design of the second modification of the photodetector for telecommunication systems will be completed. The first mock-ups of devices will also be made,” said Anton Zhuravlev, Project Manager, Associate Professor of the Department of Nanotechnology and Microsystems Engineering, Perm State National Research University.
