As noted, the test in question is the first set of reagents in Russian practice that works on the basis of isothermal amplification, a method of reproducing genomic copies of a pathogen in a test tube.
This approach allows simultaneous detection of two regions of the virus genome. And if changes occur in one area, the second remains unchanged, and the test just determines these changes, which will not go unnoticed. Thanks to the method, the likelihood of a false negative result is reduced.
“In any case, we continue to detect the signal, and the virus will not escape from us. To ensure the maximum detection of the virus, we select the most conservative regions of the genome as target sites. In this case, we are talking about a region of the SARS-CoV-2 polyprotein gene, as well as one of the surface protein genes, ”explained Kamil Khafizov, head of the scientific group for the development of new methods for diagnosing human diseases at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.
