Russia began to be less dosed: the number of attacks in June decreased by four times compared to March

The number of DDoS attacks in Russia in June decreased by four times compared to the peak indicators in March. This was reported in Kaspersky Lab.

“The total number of attacks is gradually decreasing. In June, Kaspersky Lab solutions recorded almost four times fewer such incidents compared to the peak figures in March. However, this is still twice as much as in June last year.”— told in Kaspersky Lab.

At the same time, the average duration of DDoS attacks increased in the second quarter, the company noted. In April, it was 40 hours, in May – 57, in June this figure began to decline. During these three months, the maximum duration record was updated several times – the longest DDoS attack began in May and lasted almost 29 days.

The financial sector experienced the most such attacks – the share of attacks on it varied from 70% in April to 37% in June. Also at the beginning of the summer, the share of state organizations among the victims increased sharply: in June they accounted for 38% of all DDoS attacks in Russia, emphasized at Kaspersky Lab.

“At the beginning of 2022, a large number of so-called hacktivists participated in DDoS attacks, but then their share in the total number decreased, and we began to record attacks prepared by professional attackers more often. This is evidenced by the increased many times the duration of the attacks and the level of their execution. In particular, we are seeing targeted attacks, during which attackers take into account the smallest details and the specifics of the architecture of specific sites, ” – said Alexander Gutnikov, cybersecurity expert at Kaspersky Lab.
