Rupee Vs Dollar: Rupee breaks 7 paise against US dollar in opening trade, came to 79.33

Rupee Vs Dollar: The rupee fell by seven paise to 79.33 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday due to sluggishness in the domestic stock market and a risk-averse trend. The rupee had closed at its lowest level of 79.26 against the dollar in the previous session.

Rupee opens weak at 79.30 against dollar
In the Interbank Foreign Currency Exchange market, the rupee opened weak against the US dollar at 79.30 and came down to 79.33 in later trade, indicating a weakness of seven paise against the previous closing price. India’s local currency rupee remained in the range of 79.24 and 79.35 against the US dollar in early trade.

Lower crude oil prices helped stop the rupee’s fall
According to forex traders, however, a fall in crude oil prices in the international market helped curb the weakness of the rupee.

Meanwhile, the dollar index, reflecting the US dollar’s position against the six major currencies, rose 0.31 per cent to 107.34. Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were down 0.63 per cent at $106.35 per barrel. According to provisional data of the stock market, foreign institutional investors sold shares worth a net Rs 109.31 crore on Friday.

In today’s opening trade, the BSE Sensex is down 233.24 points or 0.43 percent at 54,248 and the NSE Nifty is trading at 16,136 with a weakness of 84.45 points or 0.52 percent.
