TechPowerUp has released projected performance figures for the upcoming GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 graphics cards, which are not yet available for purchase. These preliminary results are underwhelming, suggesting that an upgrade might not be justified for users with previous-generation NVIDIA GPUs.
Based on TechPowerUp’s data, the RTX 5070 Ti is expected to lag behind the RTX 4080 by an average of 14% in gaming scenarios. This performance difference widens to 16% when compared to the RTX 4080 SUPER, and the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is projected to outperform the 5070 Ti by 17%. The anticipated performance improvement over the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is a mere 2%.
The base model RTX 5070 is also predicted to underperform, trailing the RTX 4070 by 3% and the RTX 4070 SUPER by a significant 20%.
TechPowerUp reports that these projections are based on an algorithm that analyzes the technical specifications of each card, including clock speeds and shader counts, to estimate performance.
It’s important to note that these are projections and do not consider performance-enhancing features like upscaling or frame generation technologies. NVIDIA has not yet issued an official statement regarding these figures.
