Royal Enfield Himalayan: Royal Enfield has recalled 4,891 Himalayan motorcycles manufactured in the US between 2017 and 2021. In an official information shared with the US National Highway Traffic Safety, the company has informed about the faults found in these motorcycles.
In the report, the company has stated that a certain batch of motorcycles is facing brake failure due to corrosion in the brake caliper. These affected models were manufactured between March 1, 2017 and February 28, 2021.
The company said in the report that there are complaints of rusting of brake calipers of some motorcycles due to the salt used to prevent snow from freezing on the road in the US. This can result in a reduction in brake function or complete brake failure.

Hence, the company has announced a voluntary recall to replace the front and rear brake calipers of the affected motorcycles. Let us tell you, the company is using Brembo brake calipers and Bosch ABS in the Himalayan.
The company says that due to this, there may be an unusual sound while applying brakes. It can also cause a burning smell near the calipers. Users may also find it difficult to push the Royal Enfield Himalayan manually.

For those who are unaware, this is not the first time that Royal Enfield has recalled its bikes. In 2020, the company recalled over 15,000 units of Royal Enfield 650 bikes and Royal Enfield Himalayan.

The 2020 recall was done in the UK, Europe and South Korea. It is to be noted that the Royal Enfield Himalayan models in India are not affected by the latest recall.
