The Consumer Affairs Ministry (MCA) has constituted a committee with a ‘right to repair’ framework. With ‘Right to Repair’, people can get many products including electronics and automobiles repaired at a cheap price. This will not affect the warranty of the products.
Four sectors included in ‘right to repair’
The benefit of Right to Repair will be available on the products of a total of four sectors. These include agricultural equipments, products like mobiles and tablets, TV-fridges and automobiles.

Under Right to Repair, you can take advantage of devices like mobile, tablet, wireless headphones, earbuds, laptops, universal charging ports, universal charging cables, batteries, servers and data storage, printers.
Apart from this, products like water purifier, washing machine, refrigerator, television, integrated / universal remote, dishwasher, microwave, air conditioner, geyser, electric kettle, induction cooktop, mixer grinder and electric chimney, car, bike are also included.
Every information will be available on the portal
Under the ‘Jago Grahak Jago’ mission, information like service, warranty, term and condition of the product will be available on the portal. The list of customer care numbers of the companies associated with this scheme will also be found here. Users can get the necessary information by searching the name of the company or product.
The Right to Repair portal of the Consumer Affairs Ministry has been launched recently. Currently most of the links on this portal are not working. Apart from Contact Us, Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, users are also not able to use social media accounts on the portal.
