Renault-Nissan produced 3.5 million engines in India, exporting to 15 countries

The Chennai-based plant produced 1 lakh engines within the first one year of its commissioning. At the same time, 10 lakh units of engine have been produced in the next six years. The state-of-the-art powertrain facility at the Renault-Nissan plant produces six engine variants as well as four gearbox variants. Engine units of high standards manufactured by this alliance are being sold in India as well as overseas markets.

After its success in India, the Nissan Magnite SUV is now being exported to 15 countries along with South Africa. This includes countries such as Indonesia, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Brunei, Uganda, Kenya, Seychelles, Mozambique, Zambia, Mauritius, Tanzania and Malawi.

The HRA0 turbo engine developed for the Nissan Magnite delivers better mileage, while also producing less CO2 emissions of 118.5g/km. This engine is very responsive and has more acceleration, along with it also has less engine vibration, which also makes for less noise in the cabin.

The HRAO Turbo can be mated to a manual 5-speed gearbox or Nissan’s X-TRONIC 5-speed CVT gearbox. It uses the “Mirror Bore Cylinder Coating” technology found in world-class sports cars like the Nissan GT-R to reduce resistance inside the engine, improve weight and heat management, and increase mileage.
