Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC: Qualcomm today revealed the face of its new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset at the Snapdragon Summit 2022. The company says that the new chipset, which succeeds the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Gen 1+ SoCs, ” will revolutionize flagship smartphones in 2023″ as it offers 4.35.

At Summit 2022, the company said that smartphone OEMs such as Asus ROG, Honor, iQoo, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, Oppo, RedMagic, Redmi, Sharp, Sony, Vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE will use the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The SoC on its smartphones is expected to launch by the end of 2022 on these new phones.

The new chipset from Qualcomm is formally known as SM8550-AB, and is made using 4nm process technology. It has also been designed to improve AI and connectivity options. In a blog post, the company says that its powerful Hexagon processor works faster with multi-language translation and multi AI camera features.
Talking about connectivity
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 features Qualcomm’s FastConnect 7800 connectivity system, which enables Wi-Fi 7 for the fastest high-speed internet (5.8 Gbps). Qualcomm is working with Samsung for its new 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP3 camera sensor. The new sensor is rumored to debut on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, while phones like the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra come with the ISOCELL HP1 sensor. The new-gen sensor will provide cleaner and clearer photos even if users take a zoomed-in screenshot. It is also the first Snapdragon SoC to include the AV1 codec with support for video playback up to 8K HDR at 60 frames per second.

LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, support for QHD+ at 144Hz, and more. The octa-core processor has one main core clocked at 3.2GHz, 4 performance cores clocked at up to 2.8GHz and three efficiency cores clocked at up to 2.0GHz. Meanwhile, Oppo has confirmed that its next Oppo Find X phone will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
