Aston Martin sent the new Vantage GT3 into production before it was officially presented. Now Aston has not only revealed details about the new road version Vantagebut also shared information about the racing car.
In short, Vantage GT3 — this is the usual Vantage, which was heavily modified for participation in endurance races. Its aluminum chassis is equipped with safety frame, carbon fiber body panels and many other changes, making it suitable for use on tracks.
All GT3 class cars begin their lives as serial cars, and the new Vantage is no exception. All cars of this class are unique, but, despite the diversity, have very similar characteristics. According to the rules, Aston has the same base engine as the serial car, but its power is tuned to 500–600 horsepower. All GT3 class cars should also weigh from 1200 to 1300 kg.
The old Vantage GT3 was popular with buyers, and Aston believes the new one will be no exception. By the end of the 2024 season the automaker expects 30 cars to participate on tracks around the world.
The company acknowledged that the previous car had some «complex» handling characteristics, which were corrected in the new model. Feedback from drivers after the extensive development program was positive.
