India is in the midst of a transition from internal combustion engine two-wheelers to electric motorcycles, scooters and other two-wheelers. The state actively stimulates local producers. Many automakers have also branched out into electric vehicles and two-wheelers.
Mazout Electric has announced its intentions to become a successful start-up in the Indian electric motorcycle industry. At present, the company has developed an electric cruiser motorcycle (cruiser) that can travel 350 km without recharging. The motorcycle has a top speed of 120 km/h.
The Mazout electric motorcycle was developed by a group of engineering students from the Delhi Technical University. A YouTube video showing off the bike gives some details on the technical and hardware specs of the model that is their second prototype.
The students are the owners of the startup Mazout Electric and are also working on the software part of the electric cruiser. The model could greatly improve the range of current electric motorcycles available in the Indian market. More specifically, there is no electric cruiser motorcycle in the Indian market and Mazout wants to change that.
The model will be equipped with a 25 kWh battery providing the specified range. The price and other characteristics have not yet been reported.
