Mauritius Prime Minister Naveen Chandra Ramgulam on Tuesday announced to give the country’s highest honor ‘The Grand Commander of the Star and Ki of the Indian Ocean’ to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi has become the first Indian to get the highest honor of Mauritius. Ramgulam made this announcement at a program of the Indian community in Port Lewis.

Prime Minister Modi reached Mauritius today on a two -day state visit, where he was welcomed by Ramgulam. The two leaders greeted the airport warmly. The Prime Minister will be the chief guest of Mauritius’s 57th National Day celebrations on Wednesday. A contingent of Indian defense forces with a warship of the Indian Navy will attend the ceremony. Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate more than 20 projects funded by India. Apart from this, he will also announce new major infrastructure projects with the aim of strengthening democracy in the island nation.

PM Modi met Mauritius President Dharambir Gokhul. During this time, he has presented many things to the President of Mauritius, including water from Mahakumbh to Sangam and Super Food Makhana. Apart from this, PM has also presented a saree of Banarasi Silk to Gokhul’s wife Vrinda Gokhul.

‘Discussion on promoting bilateral relations’

After meeting the President of Mauritius, PM Modi wrote on X, ‘I had a very good meeting with President Dharambir Gokhul. He is well aware of India and Indian culture. Thank you for inviting me for attending Mauritius’s National Day celebrations. We discussed ways to further promote bilateral relations in various fields.

In another tweet, the PM said, it is commendable that an Ayurvedic garden has been built in the state house of Mauritius. I am also happy that the popularity of Ayurveda in Mauritius is increasing. President Dharambir Gokhul and I went to the Ayurvedic Garden, which gave me an opportunity to see it directly.

PM Modi reached Mauritius after 10 years

PM Modi has arrived on a tour of Mauritius after 10 years. Earlier, PM Modi went to Mauritius in the year 2015 March. At that time also PM Modi attended the National Day celebrations as the chief guest. Mauritius and India have an old relationship. About 70 percent of the total population here are of Indian origin.
