PF News: The government told the Parliament today that a total of Rs 3930.85 crore is deposited in inoperative accounts in the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF). Labor and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav gave this information in a written reply to a question by Sushil Kumar Modi. “There is no unclaimed deposit in the Employees’ Provident Fund. And, as per the Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme 1952, some accounts are classified as inactive accounts.
All dormant accounts are definitely contenders
Yadav said, “All such dormant accounts definitely have claimants. As on March 31, 2021, the total amount deposited in such inoperative accounts is Rs.3930.85 crore.
1,44,82,359 new employees were recruited
He said that the total number of establishments registered with Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) under different categories is 18,62,128. Along with this, he told that after October 1, 2020, 1,44,82,359 new employees were recruited by these establishments.
Maharashtra has the highest number of registered establishments
He said that Maharashtra has the highest number of registered establishments (2,97,684) while Delhi has 1,14,151; 1,37,686 in Gujarat ; In Tamil Nadu 1,67,390 and in Uttar Pradesh 1,47,790 establishments are registered with EPFO.
