After the new increase in prices, now the price of petrol in the national capital Delhi has been Rs 99.41 per liter and the price of diesel is Rs 90.77 per liter. Let us inform that after increasing the prices of petrol and diesel by 50 paise and 55 paise per liter respectively on Sunday, the petroleum companies increased the prices on Monday.
The first hike in petrol and diesel prices announced on March 22 this year was the first hike in 137 days. There was no change in fuel prices from November 3, 2021 to March 21, 2022. Fuel prices were stable as the central government cut excise duty on petrol by Rs 5 per liter and diesel by Rs 10 per liter and several states reduced state tax.
Explain that due to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, the prices of crude oil in the international market continue to fluctuate. Since India imports 85 per cent of its fuel requirement, even slight fluctuations in crude oil prices have a huge impact on petrol and diesel prices in the country. Experts believe that the prices of petrol and diesel in India may become more expensive in the coming days.
CNG prices also increased in March
Earlier this month, on March 8, the price of CNG was hiked by Rs 0.50 per kg in the national capital and adjoining cities. According to information posted on the website of Indraprastha Gas Limited, a retailer of CNG and piped LPG in the national capital, the price of CNG in NCT of Delhi increased from Rs 56.51 per kg to Rs 57.51 per kg.
Before the hike in petrol and diesel prices on March 22, domestic cooking gas prices were hiked by Rs 50 per cylinder. A few days before this hike, on March 20, petroleum companies increased the price of bulk diesel by Rs 25 per litre.
