- 5G network ready to launch in India
- Users will be able to enjoy high-speed internet
- These cities will be the first to start
New Delhi. This year the people of India can get 5G connectivity. But, the latest telecom connection will not be available in all cities. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has revealed that 5G telecom services will be launched in select cities in India.
A total of 13 cities will get 5G telecom services in 2022. These cities include Gurugram, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune and Gandhinagar.
5G services are the latest upgrade in Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile broadband networks after 4G, which have allowed people to stream music and videos with higher speeds. 5G connectivity is expected to offer higher speeds and will help in connecting many more types of devices than smartphones.
Telecom service providers like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea have set up 5G trial sites in some cities across the country. “These metros and major cities will be the first places to launch 5G services in the country next year,” the DoT said.
