RailTel, one of India’s largest neutral telecom infrastructure providers under the Ministry of Railways, says free high-speed Wi-Fi internet is now available at 6,100 railway stations across the country. With the launch of Wi-Fi facility in Lucknow section of Northern Railway at Ubarni railway station in Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh, the stage of 6100 stations with Wi-Fi coverage has been reached. Out of these 6,100 railway stations, more than 5,000 stations are in rural areas, which provide Wi-Fi access to many stations in the Northeast and to many remote stations across the country, like all 15 stations in the Kashmir Valley.

How to use free Wi-Fi service at railway stations?

RailWire Wi-Fi is available to any user at train stations. To connect to Wi-Fi, passengers need to scan the Wi-Fi option and select ‘RailWire’. Railwire. The browser will ask for a mobile number on the portal to which the One Time Password (OTP) will be sent. Once connected, the Wi-Fi connection lasts 30 minutes. This helps the train passengers to stay connected and stay updated with the information. Wi-Fi runs at 1 Mbps and is ‘free’ for 30 minutes. To use Wi-Fi for more than 30 minutes, users will have to opt for a high speed plan for a nominal fee. These plans start at Rs 10 per day and come with 5 Mbps internet with 34 Mbps speed. You can use many payment options like Net Banking, Wallet, Credit Card to buy the plan online.
