Mumbai Airport has launched ‘FASTag’ option for payment of car parking fees at Multilevel Car Parking (MLCP) of Terminal 2 on November 30, the airport operator said on Wednesday. After this option, it has now become easier for the people who park their vehicles in the parking lot to pay. Now, when the vehicle is moved from the FASTag lane at the parking entry, the parking fee will be automatically deducted through the FASTag sticker affixed to it.
CSMIA informed on Wednesday that Mumbai FASTag lanes have been started at the multilevel car parking of Terminal 2 of the airport, after which FASTags of passengers using MLCPs will automatically pay parking fees. However, the operator has clearly stated that car owners need to ensure that their FASTag Be active with enough balance to exit.
The operator says that passengers using the designated FASTag lane will have to follow the same lane for exit as they used at the time of entry. There is no additional cost involved for this facility.
One of the main benefits of FASTag is that it eliminates cash transactions and makes entry and exit easier and faster. It is completely like paying toll tax on the highway, where a camera and some sensors scan the FASTag of the vehicle and the vehicle fee is automatically deducted from the FASTag account.
ICICI said in a statement, “The scanners installed in the parking zone read the FASTag on the windscreen of the vehicle, record the entry/exit time and automatically deduct the parking fee.”
