Pakistan Squad For West Indies Test Series: Pakistan team was announced for the two-match home test series against West Indies. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the 15-member squad on January 11 (Saturday). Shan Masood will captain the team, while the responsibility of vice-captain will be on the shoulders of Saud Shakeel. Pakistan had to face 0-2 defeat in the Test series on the recent South Africa tour. In such a situation, seven changes have been made in the Pakistan team for the Test series against West Indies.

Imam returns, 7 players out

To strengthen the spin department, off-spinner Sajid Khan and ‘mystery spinner’ Abrar Ahmed have been recalled to the team. Opener Imam Ul Haq has returned to the Test team after a long time. Mohammad Huraira and Mohammad Ali have also been successful in making place in the squad. While uncapped Kashif Ali and wicketkeeper batsman Rohail Nazir have also got a place in the team.

Opener Sam Ayub and wicketkeeper batsman Hasibullah could not be a part of the squad due to injury. While another opener Abdullah Shafiq had to bear the brunt of his poor form. Fast bowlers Mir Hamza, Aamir Jamal, Mohammad Abbas, Naseem Shah have been given rest under workload management. These seven players were part of the Test team on the South Africa tour.

Both the matches of the Test series between Pakistan and West Indies will be played in Multan. The first test will be played from 17-21 January. Whereas the second test will be held during 25-29 January. Both these matches are going to be held under the World Test Championship 2023-25. The final of the current cycle of the World Test Championship is to be played between South Africa and Australia from June 11-15 at the Mecca of cricket, Lord’s.
