Telecom companies organization COAI i.e. Cellular Operators Association of India said that over-the-top i.e. OTT communication service should compensate telecom companies for the movement of data traffic in the network. Not only this, COAI has also OTT It has also advocated for a light-touch regulation framework and licensing for the service.
COAI ie Cellular Operators Association of India Director General (Director General) SP Kochhar said that the association draft is a part of the Telecom Bill itself. Keeping his point, he further said that in order to avoid any kind of ambiguity, the association has given some suggestions on how OTT communication service can be defined.
Talking to the reporter during the briefing, Director General of Cellular Operators Association of India, SP Kochhar said that other proposals including the exact financial model of OTT communication service will be given to the government to compensate the telecom service providers.
OTT communication service includes Signal, WhatsApp, Telegram, Google Meet and other similar apps.
Not only this, Director General (Cellular Operators Association of India) SP Kochhar said that the revenue share model can be adopted on the basis of data consumption for other OTTs (all categories) in the coming times.
