Oppo F21 Pro review: Gets powerful camera features and powerful battery life

Oppo has introduced many great smartphones and other accessories in the Indian market over the years. Oppo phones are known for their best selfie cameras. The new Oppo F21 Pro is another smartphone that comes with some of the latest technology to capture that perfect selfie. Let us review Oppo F21 Pro today.

Key Specifications of Oppo F21 Pro

  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 680
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Storage: 128GB
  • Battery: 4,500mAh
  • Platform: Android 12 with ColorOS

Design of Oppo F21 Pro

One of the first things to notice on the Oppo F21 Pro is its unique design. Oppo has used the industry’s first ‘fiberglass-leather design’ in the smartphone. It provides a unique touch and superior experience to the smartphone.

Oppo F21 Pro flaunts a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate. The display is also Amazon HDR and YouTube HD certified, providing a vibrant and crystal-clear viewing experience.

Camera performance of Oppo F21 Pro

Oppo F21 Pro sports a triple camera setup at the back consisting of a 64MP primary lens, a 2MP micro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. Apart from this, there is a 32MP ultra-sensing selfie camera on the front with Sony IMX709 lens.

Oppo has always emphasized the prowess of its selfie camera and it has done a great job with the selfie camera on the F21 Pro. It comes with Sony IMX 709 RGBW lens, which is paired with Oppo Quadra Binning Algorithm. This gives great selfies, which comes with features like Bokeh Portrait, AI Portrait Enhancement and Selfie HDR.

Apart from this, Night Mode is available in Oppo F21 Pro. However, this mode is not as satisfactory as the microlens or the powerful selfie camera. We have also used Powerful Night Mode in Oppo Find X5 Pro with MariSilicon X NPU.

Oppo F21 Pro Performance

Oppo F21 Pro comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Users can further increase both RAM and default storage. Users can expand the RAM up to 5GB and the total storage up to 1TB via a microSD card. However, the Snapdragon 680 chip does not support 5G.

Oppo F21 Pro real-life performance

Benchmark results show that the Oppo F21 Pro delivers decent performance for regular apps. We used the phone for a wide range of activities like browsing, watching videos, taking photos, making video calls, and also explored a few gaming titles. I found most of these activities to work flawlessly.

We also found that the Oppo F21 Pro can handle gaming titles like BGMI and Free Fire. But more graphics-heavy apps won’t offer the top-notch experience. Also, ColorOS with Android 12 makes the experience better.

Oppo F21 Pro Battery: Charges in less time with Powerful Fast Charger

Oppo F21 Pro is backed by a 4500mAh battery with 33W SuperVOOC fast charger. 5000mAh battery has been given in most of the phones in this segment. It is a bit disappointing to find the Oppo F21 Pro with smaller battery. Still, the performance is commendable.

The 33W SuperVOOC fast charging adapter is one of the best features of the phone. At the same time, the phone can be fully charged in about 90 minutes. We found that the Oppo F21 Pro can last for a day if it is used for non-gaming apps. Overall, the battery performance has been improved with fast-charging support.

Oppo F21 Pro Verdict

The segment below Rs 25000 in India now comes with 5G options. If buyers can spend a few thousand more, they will also get premium 5G smartphones. In such a situation, there will be no point in taking a 4G phone like Oppo F21 Pro.

Phones like the Oppo F21 Pro offer premium features especially in the camera department. If you want to ignore the 5G factor, the Oppo F21 Pro is a good option in this segment, especially for its powerful selfie camera.
