Omicron-strain now in Russia? A plane with Russians from South Africa arrived in Moscow

It is reported that two commercial flights for the export of Russian citizens from Cape Town and Johannesburg were organized by the Ethiopian airline. A total of 100 people have returned from South Africa.

Recall that it was in this part of the country that the newest omicron strain COVID-19 was first discovered. According to scientists, today it is the most contagious. To date, a number of European countries have announced that they have recorded the first cases of the disease of citizens with a fresh mutation of the coronavirus.

Note that Russian travelers are stuck in South Africa directly due to the discovery of a new COVID-19 strain in the country. As a result, the Russian consulate organized their flight to their homeland, but it was not without a “fly in the ointment” – the cost of a return ticket was more than 100 thousand rubles.
