Ola will make batteries for electric vehicles under PLI scheme, there will be less dependence on China

Ola recently unveiled its indigenously developed Lithium-Ion Cell – NMC 2170 and is investing heavily in developing a core R&D center to make indigenous advanced cell technologies. To begin mass production of its cells from its upcoming 50-GWh gigafactory, Ola has already tied up with global suppliers from Germany, South Korea, Japan and other hubs.

In India, Ola Electric is in direct competition with electric two-wheeler manufacturers such as Ather Energy, Hero Electric, Bajaj, TVS Motor, Bounce, Okinawa and Boom Motors. Ola also plans to launch electric cars, motorcycles, sport utility vehicles and robotics.
