Ola S1 electric scooter sales up almost 10 times on Dussehra

Sales of electric two-wheelers have picked up in the last few months. The sales of Ola S1 electric scooter have increased almost 10 times on Dussehra as compared to normal days. The company’s CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal said, “The S1 has received a very good response. Its sales have been almost 10 times higher than the normal days.”

He said that this shows that people are ready to buy electric vehicles by moving away from petrol and diesel engines. Ola Electric started selling the S1 on September 1 and delivered it from September 7. This electric scooter is built on the same platform as the S1 Pro that was launched last year. The company has sold around 70,000 units of the S1 Pro. The S1 is powered by a 3kWh electric motor that delivers a range of around 141 km on a single charge. The company claims its top speed to be 90 kmph.

The company has made preparations to sell electric scooters in the international market. Its S1 and S1 Pro scooters to be launched in Nepal soon sales will be started. For this an agreement has been signed with CG Motors in Nepal. Ola Electric It has told that after this expansion can be done in Latin America, ASEAN and Europe. Aggarwal had said, “Our expansion abroad means India’s role in the growth of the company as well as in driving the EV segment in the world.” He said that India will have to make a big contribution to take the segment of electric vehicles to the next level. The company recently announced its electric four-wheeler project.

Ola is gearing up to strengthen its position in two-wheelers, four-wheelers and manufacturing. Ola has overtaken Uber to gain a major share in the country’s cab ride market. The company started manufacturing e-scooters last year and plans to make electric cars by 2024. Ola had deferred its plans to list in the stock market in the first half of this year. The reason for this was volatility in the market and weak listing of other startups.
