Ola Electric Future Plans: Ola Electric currently holds a 40% share of the electric scooter market in the country. Now, the company is all set to increase its market share to 60-70% by launching some new products along with its expansion in smaller cities. According to the company, smaller cities (Tier I and Tier II) such as Tumkur and Hassan in Karnataka, Durg in Chhattisgarh, Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu and Ernakulam in Kerala account for 35%-40% of EVs. This is equivalent to 45%-50% of metro cities including Bengaluru. While Pune has 35%-40%, Surat 35%-40% and Jaipur 33% EV hold.
Focus will be on small towns
With an aim to strengthen its presence in smaller towns, Ola Electric will expand its sales network to 1,000 outlets in the next few months. The company will set up experience centers in Tier I and Tier II cities, which will increase EV uptake by 8% to 10% (from 1% – 2%). Anshul Khandelwal, CMO, Ola Electric said that “we are seeing huge growth in smaller cities”. Recently the company has inaugurated its 500th Experience Center in Srinagar.

In April 2023, Ola registered sales of over 30,000 units and the company ranked first in sales for the eighth consecutive month. The company overtook the sales of e-scooters from Ather, Hero Electric and Okinawa. To expand its offline presence, the company has started online retail sales of scooters and has set up several Ola Experience Centers across the country.
New models will come
Regarding its upcoming products, Ola Electric has confirmed that it will introduce a new range of electric scooters this year keeping in mind all price points. The next new model of Ola will hit the roads later this year. The company has also confirmed that some more models will also come. Earlier this year, Ola revealed that it is working on 6 new electric two-wheelers including a mass-market scooter. Soon the Ola premium electric motorcycle range is expected to include a sports bike, adventure tourer, road bike, cruiser and a mass-market bike.
