Ola gave clarification, did not recall the scooter…will install this new part for free

Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said in a detailed blog that several media reports and social media posts said that Ola has ignored the breakdown of the suspension of the electric scooter.

Ola Scooter: Country’s largest electric two-wheeler company Ola Electric has published a detailed blog on the new suspension replacement. The company clarified that electric scooter Owners have been offered a free suspension replacement, this is not a recall. There have been many cases when electric scooters (electric scooter)’s suspension broke and people got hurt. In view of this, the company has recently given the scooter owners the option of changing the front fork.

The company has offered to replace the front suspension free of cost, which sounds similar to the recall. However, the company has refused to accept it as a recall. In the blog, Ola Electric said that the company is facing a campaign for publishing the image of the broken front fork.

Company released data

The company informed that out of 2,00,000 lakh scooters sold, reports of 218 failures have come to the fore. More than 70 crore kilometers have been covered by these scooters. Ola further said that out of 218 cases, 184 were accidents. This shows a failure rate of 0.015 per cent or 34 out of two lakh scooters. Please tell that these figures have been shared by the company in its blog.

New suspension of Ola S1

Ola Electric said that the image circulating on social media has affected some of its customers. That’s why the company has offered to upgrade the front suspension free of cost. The front fork has been redesigned. Its tooling, testing and validation process was completed in December. At the same time, its production has started in January 2023.

Why is there no recall?

Changing the front fork is optional and free, but it is not like a recall. Explaining in the blog, the company said that generally the recall order means setting the criteria for regulatory failure, which leads automakers to recall. This is 10 percent of the vehicles sold in India. In the case of Ola, the failure rate is very low. At this rate, no company does a recall immediately.
