As you know, supersampling technology DLSS 3 exclusive to GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards. But technically, as it turned out, it could still work on GeForce RTX 30 and RTX 20 adapters.
One of Nvidia’s specialists said that in theory the company could make DLSS 3 work on older generation RTX graphics cards, but this would not be as effective as in the case of Ada Lovelace cards.
The reason is that DLSS 3 actively uses the so-called optical flow accelerator, which has just been greatly improved in the new architecture. No hard data is available on how the new technology would work on older cards, but Nvidia says that gamers might experience lag or poor image quality.
As a result, Nvidia does not rule out the fact that later it will be able to adapt DLSS 3 to work on older adapters, albeit without such an impressive performance boost.
True, whether Nvidia itself needs this is still difficult to say. After all, judging by the first data, the RTX 4090 is capable of bypassing the RTX 3090 Ti by 2-2.5 times. thanks to DLSS 3.
