Now You Can Buy Metro Tickets 120 Days in Advance: Valid for 4 Days

Delhi Metro tickets, like railway tickets, can now be booked up to 120 days in advance and will be valid for 4 days.

Indian Railways, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) have announced a partnership under the One India One Ticket initiative to enhance the experience of mainline railway and metro travelers in the Delhi/NCR region. DMRC QR code-based tickets can now be booked on the IRCTC website and mobile application, with the full version set to launch soon, the organizations announced on Wednesday.

According to the statement, metro tickets can be booked up to 120 days in advance and will be valid for 4 days. Currently, Delhi Metro’s single journey tickets can only be booked with same-day validity. “Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), DMRC, and CRIS have joined hands in this initiative to provide a better travel experience to mainline railway and metro passengers in the Delhi NCR region, thereby promoting the Government of India’s ‘One India One Ticket’ initiative,” the statement said.

The beta version of the DMRC QR code-based ticket was launched on Wednesday, enabling mainline railway passengers to book DMRC QR code tickets on the IRCTC website and the Android version of the mobile application. One DMRC QR code per passenger will be printed or available in IRCTC’s electronic reservation slip. On this occasion, IRCTC CMD Sanjay Kumar Jain and DMRC MD Vikas Kumar said, “Upon the success of the beta version, the regular version of the IRCTC-DMRC QR code ticket will be launched soon.”

They added, “With this facility, DMRC-IRCTC QR code-based tickets will be synchronized with Indian Railways’ Advance Reservation Period (ARP), allowing passengers to book metro tickets up to 120 days in advance. The Delhi Metro tickets will be valid for a single journey for a total of 4 days, i.e., one day prior to the date of travel and 2 days after the date of travel. This initiative will enhance the experience of rail passengers by allowing them to book Delhi Metro tickets on the rail ticket confirmation page, which will be linked with stations in the Delhi/NCR region. Passengers can also book Delhi Metro tickets later through the booking history page. Additionally, an easy cancellation facility will be available. This move will save rail passengers from the hassle of waiting in long queues at Delhi Metro stations while buying DMRC tickets.”
