Now CNG kit can also be installed in BS-6 car, government approved

The Ministry of Transport and Highways, in a notification, has approved the installation of CNG/LNG retrofitment kits in BS-VI vehicles. The ministry said that CNG / LNG retrofitment kits can be installed in BS-VI petrol and diesel cars weighing 3.5 tonnes. The ministry said that for retrofitment, the vehicle owner will have to take permission from the RTO where his vehicle is registered.

As a fuel, CNG/LPG emits less than other fossil fuels such as petrol and diesel. For this reason, CNG is considered an environmentally friendly fuel. According to the information, CNG-run vehicles emit less carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, particulate matter and smoke. Due to this there is less damage to the environment.

Amidst the rising prices of petrol and diesel in the country, the sale of CNG and LPG cars is increasing rapidly. There is also a growing demand for retrofitting of CNG kits in petrol and diesel powered cars. Since CNG is economical than petrol, by installing a CNG kit in a petrol powered car, huge savings can be made in the running cost of the car.

Many cars nowadays come with a factory fitted CNG kit, whereas only petrol-powered cars have to make changes in their registration and insurance after getting the CNG kit installed, only then the CNG car is considered valid. For this you need to apply in RTO.

Before installing a CNG kit in a car, you will have to take permission from the local RTO from where your car is registered. For this, you will have to submit a form along with the Registration Certificate (RC) of the car, insurance policy copy, invoice for CNG/LPG kit and your KYC to the local RTO. Receipt will be given to the applicant after checking all the documents in the given application for CNG kit.

If you are getting a CNG kit installed in your car, then you will also have to inform the car insurance company. As per the information provided by you, the insurance company will issue a new certificate of insurance for your vehicle.
