NORAD: Russian reconnaissance aircraft entered the Alaska air defense zone twice

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) reported two incidents where Russian reconnaissance aircraft were in the Alaska air defense zone.

On two separate occasions over the past two days, the NORAD region in Alaska has detected, tracked and identified Russian reconnaissance aircraft entering and operating within Alaska’s air defenses.

The report clarifies that the Russian aircraft did not enter the sovereign airspace of the United States or Canada.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command uses a multi-layered defense network of satellites, ground-based radars, airborne radars and fighter aircraft to identify foreign aircraft.
